GPI, the open source implementation of the GASPI standard – and one of the building blocks of the INTERTWinE project – has been long-listed for the European Innovation Radar Prize 2016.

The Innovation Radar (IR) is a European Commission initiative to identify high-potential innovations and innovators in EU-funded research and innovation projects in ICT.

Forty of the best EU-funded innovators and their digital innovations have been selected to compete for this year's Innovation Radar Prize.

Featured in the Excellent Science category, for projects at "the cutting-edge of science underpinning tomorrow's digital advances", is the communication middleware GPI (Global address space Programming Interface) – one of the building blocks of the INTERTWinE project.

GPI is an open-source API for asynchronous communication, developed by Fraunhofer ITWM, one of the INTERTWinE partners. It provides a flexible, scalable and fault-tolerant interface for parallel applications. GPI-2 is the second generation of this API. To find out more about GPI, visit the website at http://www.gpi-site.com/gpi2/.

To find out more about the other innovations featured in the Innovation Radar Prize 2016, and to cast your vote for your favourite, go to the webpage at https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/innovators.
